Massage can be gentle and slow, or deep, or vigorous and energizing, depending on the needs of the client. A variety of different techniques are used for different effects:
- Swedish
- A full body massage, can be gentle and relaxing, or deep, or invigorating, or all of the above! Very therapeutic for stress, sore muscles, high blood pressure and insomnia.
- Reflexology
- Massage technique focusing on points on the feet that correspond with different parts of the body. Wonderful for relieving stress and instilling feelings of wellbeing.
- Reiki
- Gentle Eastern medicine energy healing technique. The client remains fully clothed, relaxed and warm on the table, while the therapist works with gentle touch and energy fields around the body. Relaxing therapy for body and soul.
- Myofascial
- Unbinds muscles and fascia that have tightened into painful contractions. Great therapy for repetitive stress injuries and stiff necks and sore fingers, wrists and arms.
- Zen Thai
- A fabulous technique that bridges yoga and massage! The therapist works on a futon-like mat on the floor with the fully clothed client. While the client relaxes, the therapist takes them through a range of stretches and compressions that free tight joints and muscles in a 90 minute routine. Amazingly energizing and relaxing at the same time.
- Oncology Massage
- I've worked in a hospital setting with oncology patients. Extremely gentle touch is wonderfully therapeutic for reducing pain, discomfort and anxiety for those going through treatment, or living with cancer.
